Camp Rupert can never be forgotten now that the Historical Marker is in place on the Paul Highway, 100 S, 1100 W. Many thanks to John Firth and Anne Schenk for their hard work!
Over the summer, some of the interviews of original settlers (recorded in the 1970s and 1980s) were converted from cassette tapes to CDs that are available for checkout. As cassettes are converted, they will also be made available for checkout.
The stagecoach replica made and donated by David Wheeler will be raffled off in January. Proceeds will be split between the Museum and the Minidoka County Centennial Committee (to support the centennial festivities!). The stagecoach spent a week at the county fair and then the month of September at the Senior Citizens Center. Many thanks to all of you who have purchased tickets already! Prices are $1 per ticket, $5 for six tickets, or $10 for fifteen tickets to Historical Society Members. Contact Ginger at the museum, 436-0336, or Keith Gentry when you see him around town, if you would like to buy a ticket.
Thanks to the Youth Ranch Kids, the weeds in the Museum’s back lot have been dramatically reduced. To show our gratitude, those wonderful weeders are invited to a hotdog roast held in their honor at the museum on Saturday, September 15, 6:30-8:00 P.M.
The museum has a website!
Please visit us at minidokamuseum.weebly.com and let me know what you would like to see included.
Volunteers needed:
Interviewers are needed to speak with our senior citizens and record their memories of WWII. Memories of Camp Rupert would be much appreciated.
We are looking for additional events at whch to show the stagecoach as well as for volunteers to help sell tickets.
If you can help either of these projects, please contact Ginger at the museum, 436-0336.
In order to schedule appropriate programs, please call or email to let me know what kind of programs you would be interested in attending.
